Τετάρτη 29 Απριλίου στις 22:00 : OTTAVEN & MAI MAI MAI live!

Since childhood, he followed his parents around Europe and the Near East, assimilating the different cultures, atmospheres and sonorities of the places he was involuntarily taken to. Short periods of time which were intense enough to leave indelible traces. This project is the transposition of those experiences into music and sounds: a mix of drone and ambient, technoid-steamy rhythmics, field recordings and sound-scapes which lead us to ancient and arcane ages, on the border between east and west.
After the debut Theta LP, out on Boring Machines (2013) and mixed by Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Delta (Yerevan Tapes, 2014) is his second release and second part of his journey across the Mediterranean Sea, through hidden memories, old unconscious and sounds of past experiences, put together and mixed today using tapes, synths and sequencers.
In May 2015 a one sided LP called “Petra” will come out on CORPOC : it is an appendix to Mai Mai Mai’s trilogy about the Mediterranean.
Ottaven has been working as a musician since 2003. This is the music alias of Canedicoda who, in turn, comes from a long experience under a cloud of parallel identities and collaborations with other bands like With Love, WW, Lago Morto, Nastro Mortal, Magic Towers and Forum I. Ottaven, a solo project, has produced several audio cassettes, cd-rs and has played throughout Europe. One of his last project was a 24 hours piece called “Musica per un giorno registrata in un mese” released as box 24 tapes box by Second Sleep.
“Ottaven is the name i chose for my close relation with the sound. The music is sound – or silence – carring feelings. The sound is physic, medium of messages and meanings. I think is important to be able of being repetitive, digging into our actions. With my music i try to narrate you something about my sense linked to an idea of focus and improvisation.”
